kalley was about to give up on songwriting when the 6th largest fire in California history climbed over a hill and into her neighborhood.
Up to this point, she hadn’t been able to find her sound or a perspective to write from. The Heiligenthal’s had just moved into their new home 4 months prior when the fire hit their neighborhood and they were forced to evacuate. 12 hours passed as the family waited to hear if their home was still standing. kalley went through layers of surrender as she releasing control of all she owned and met the opportunity to give God an offering. It was this moment that shaped her song, “Alabaster Heart.”
“It unearthed fears and places where I had grasped for control and didn’t realize.” — kalley
kalley came back to find her home in-tact but her city in ruins. She began to write more songs from this place, feeling called to serve her city in this way. “Alabaster Heart” is kalley’s first single from her upcoming solo project Faultlines. kalley’s hope is that this song would remind people how trustworthy God is with everything that we would give him, and that He knows what is on the other side of our sacrifice.
